The delay of the menstrual cycle is the alarm signal that most attracts the attention of women. Know the symptoms of pregnancy
Is your period late and do you suspect a possible pregnancy? Generally one of the first symptoms of pregnancy is even the delay of the menstrual cycle, but there are several other warnings given by the body that can indicate the fertilization of the egg. Overall, it’s important to know your body and get tested to be sure what’s really going on.
Is late periods always a sign of pregnancy?
No. After all, the list of possible causes of menstrual delay is long. The gynecologist of the Edmundo Vasconcelos Hospital, Luana Ariadne Ferreira Zanchetta Souza, indicates the main reasons that can cause menstruation to arrive a few days later:
- Hormonal imbalances due to irregular use of oral contraceptives or the morning after pill;
- Emotional situations, such as stress and anxiety;
- sudden changes in weight;
- Excessive physical activity;
- Effects of polycystic ovary syndrome;
- Infectious frames.
So what are the symptoms of pregnancy?
Some women can go through their entire pregnancy without experiencing any symptoms. But, according to the Ministry of Health, the most common signs are:
- Breast enlargement;
- Nausea;
- More sleep;
- More hungry;
- Increased urinary frequency;
- Increased feeling of tiredness.
Some women are more sensitive to hormonal changes or have conditions that favor the exacerbation of some symptoms, the ministry stresses. Moreover, even these symptoms do not guarantee the occurrence of pregnancy. Therefore, after noticing one or more warning signs, it is advisable to take a pregnancy test. In case of a positive result, it is necessary to seek a health unit to start the prenatal routine.
