According to the Public Health Emergency Operations Center, the notification was necessary because “the city does not currently have any open covid-19 intensive care beds available to the population of Cuiaba and only five pediatric intensive care beds are operational in the municipality.” . The communication warns that the municipal management “proceed with the immediate opening of clinical and intensive care beds aimed at the treatment of covid-19 as a matter of urgency”.
The Secretary of Health of Cuiabá reported that “he acts guided by his commitment to the population, maintaining the monitoring of cases” and taking into account the plan to deal with the virus. The file concludes by stating that he “strengthens his willingness to dialogue, as well as joint efforts, to reduce damage to the health of the population”, but does not specify how many vacancies he intends to open.
In the last 15 days there has been an explosion of covid cases in Mato Grosso, which has led the Secretariat of State for Health to notify 141 municipalities of the increase in infections. In addition to reinforcing the importance of biosecurity measures, the file points out that 92.9% of municipalities are in the ranking at risk of transmission. There are 42 very high risk municipalities, 49 high risk, 23 medium risk and 14 low risk.
During this period, the secretariat published an ordinance suspending visits and the presence of carers in state-run hospitals. The ordinance is valid in state-administered hospital units in Sorriso, Colíder, Sinop, Cáceres, Alta Floresta, Rondonópolis, Metropolitano in Várzea Grande and Santa Casa in Cuiabá.
