Disclosed by the IBGE, the INPC is responsible for readjusting the value of benefits such as retirement that are in excess of a minimum wage
Pensioners and pensioners of the National Social Security Institute (INSS) who receive a benefit above the minimum wage we can celebrate now. The INPC, an index used annually to adjust pensions, was released by the IBGE.
The National Consumer Price Index (INPC), which measures the inflation of families with monthly incomes between 1 and 5 minimum wages, closed 2022 with a 5.93% accumulation. As a result, the maximum retirement amount is now BRL 7,507.39, an increase of BRL 420.27 compared to 2022.
The gauge was also above official inflation in Brazil. In 2022, the national extended consumer price index (HICP) closed the year at 5.79%.
By law, the basis of pension benefits must be adjusted to the minimum wage. Currently, the amount for 2023 is set at BRL 1,302, but the value can reach R$ 1,320since that was one of the campaign promises of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, elected for a four-year term.
In order for the new pension amount to be made official, the publication in the Official Gazette of an ordinance communicating the readjustment of the benefit is still required. But the expectation is that from February 1, payments will already increase by almost 6% compared to the previous year’s value.
How much will I receive from my pension in 2023?
For those making more than the minimum wage, you can find out the amount without having to wait until February. Take the value of your benefit and add the accumulated inflation in 2022, from 5.93%. Check out some simulations below:
