The practice, however, is not very effective for weight loss.
Honey is the food produced by bees, which is rich in glucose, fructose, serves as an energy source, and can be used in sweeteners and medicines. Known for its sweet taste and also for its versatility. Also? A recent study blamed the benefit of swapping sugar for honey.
Revelation of the positive exchange of sugar with honey
The scientific journal Nutrition Reviews, of the British group Oxford University Press, is the author of this thesis, the content of which has revealed that this consumption improves blood sugar control and also lowers cholesterol levels.
“These results are surprising because honey is about 80 percent sugar. We’re not saying you should start eating honey if you currently avoid sugar. But for those who use table sugar, syrup, or other sweeteners, switching to honey may reduce cardiometabolic risks.” Tauseef Khan, a senior investigator on the study and a research associate in nutritional sciences at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto in Canada, responded in a statement.
University of Toronto scholars undertook a systematic review and meta-analysis of 18 clinical trials, in which there were more than 1,100 participants, to find honey’s effect on metabolic and cardiac risk factors.
The people involved in this experiment consumed 40 grams of honey per day, i.e. two tablespoons. The duration of this research was eight weeks. Effects indicated that this intake correlated with low fasting glucose levels, increased “good” cholesterol (HDL), decreased bad cholesterol and triglycerides, and decreased the marker for fatty liver disease.
There has also been the observation of these researchers that this benefit has not been observed for those who have taken this product, but who maintain the habit of healthy eating for a long time. That is, the added sugars minus the daily calorie intake.
developments
Now the focus is on work on unprocessed honey, which is nothing but the only source of flora to exhibit quality evidence and a better understanding of the many compounds in this food that lead to health improvements.
Caution
The precaution is for those living with an allergic reaction to certain components of honey. Such food cannot be enjoyed by children under 1 year old.
