Brother Gabriel Santana said he has kissed men but is sexually attracted to women; experts explain the sentiment
Bisexuality does not manifest itself in the same way and varies from individual to individual. At least that’s what gender and sexuality specialists say, after the discussion on the subject, provoked by a statement by the actor Gabriel Santana, at the BB 23.
In a conversation with actress Bruna Griphao, who is also confined, he said that he has kissed several men, but is usually sexually attracted to women. At the time, Global still listed his orientation as “heteroaffective bisexual.”
For psychologist and sexologist Márcia Atik, the actor exercises his sexual freedom more widely than those with greater social conditioning, and when it comes to an individual’s sexual desire, there is no way to set rules.
“I’m a little afraid of these rules posed as absolute truths, because nothing in sexuality has absolute truth. Each person expresses himself in a way, has sexual preferences, and sexual preferences, in addition to being instinctive, it is worth saying that they have repercussions depending on how emotionally the person is,” he evaluates.
Therefore, Atik concludes that bisexuality is a form of freedom of expression of desire and can vary depending on the context of each person’s life. Furthermore, sexuality can also be fluid. Even if culturally and socially people train and end up choosing an object of desire, the expert argues that bisexuality has always existed, but either it has been veiled or it has not been assumed.
“With the sexual freedom that the whole world grants to families, we still have only religious repression, let’s break all other repressive chains of desire, of expression, of being,” he considers.
Bisexuality or fetishism?
Although bisexuality is recognized, understood and even assumed by the actor Gabriel Santana, the psychologist and sexologist Sebastião Nascimento says that the brother’s speech characterizes a fetish.
“This type of behavior does not characterize bisexuality, but rather a fetish for a specific type of men. It occurs with at least 2% of straight men,” says the specialist.
According to him, bisexuality is characterized by same-sex attraction, although there are people who say they are bisexual, but have only been in relationships with people of the opposite sex.
“In her case, it’s a fetishist. What is a fetishist? On average, 45 percent of women have a desire to be with another woman, but do not see themselves living with another woman. On average, from 1% to 2% of men have a desire to be with another man, but do not see themselves living with that man. So, this does not characterize bisexuality or homosexuality. It is a fetish, in fact,” he adds.
