Lilia Manika shares breast cancer battle in hospital video

Lilia Manika has released video recordings from her hospital cancer treatments to encourage women across Greece and beyond to seek early medical diagnosis.

Her brother, Greek television personality and model Giorgos Manikas, remained beside her throughout her time in the hospital and reshared the footage across his personal social media accounts.

The post coincided with October, the international awareness month dedicated to breast cancer. Drawing on her own experience, Manika spoke openly about the personal trials she faced during her treatment and underlined the vital importance of attending regular preventative examinations.

Writing in her public message, Manika explained that October is breast cancer awareness month and said that for many women the period is far more than an ordinary date on the calendar. She described it as a lasting reminder of a difficult battle fought, fears that were overcome, and inner strength discovered during the ordeal. She stressed that preventative care can offer a second chance at life, pleading with women never to neglect their health.

Support from Giorgos Manikas

Giorgos Manikas offered public support to his sister throughout her medical care, choosing to amplify her message to his online audience. Linking his presence to her recovery, the television presenter shared her video alongside a declaration of brotherly devotion, stating that he could turn the world upside down for his sister and would do so if necessary.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month takes place internationally every October, organised by health charities and medical institutions to encourage regular mammograms and clinical evaluations. Medical professionals consistently emphasize that detecting tumours at an early stage greatly improves treatment outcomes and survival rates, making routine screening the central focus of annual campaigns.

Giorgos Manikas is widely known in Greece as a professional fashion model and television presenter. After establishing a successful career in the fashion industry, he transitioned into broadcasting, appearing on entertainment and lifestyle programmes while building a significant following on social media where he frequently shares updates about his family life.
