Linda Blair’s Los Angeles home was raided on Friday by county authorities who discovered 200 rescue dogs on the property, more than three times the number she is permitted to house.
The joint operation involved the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning and the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC). A DACC representative told the Daily Mail that Blair’s permits to house rescue animals have been expired since 2023. An inspection warrant was issued after multiple attempts to contact her kennel went unanswered.
According to TMZ, Blair is permitted to house around 60 dogs. Agents reportedly arrived at the property at 6am. Blair was present throughout the inspection and was described by TMZ as extremely cooperative. The inspection covered animal care, safety conditions, and overall welfare of the dogs.
Blair, 67, responded the same day with a video posted to her Instagram page. She told followers the visit had turned up nothing beyond some paperwork and new diagrams, and said she and the animals were fine.
She also took a pointed swipe at the way authorities handled the matter, saying she did not know why mail was not used more often to notify somebody, adding “just saying.”
Foundation Work
Blair is the president and founder of the Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation, which she launched in 2003. The organization’s stated goal is to alleviate suffering while rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abused, neglected, and abandoned animals.
Less than a week before the raid, Blair appealed to her 100,000 Instagram followers for donations, saying she has been hands-on in animal welfare since 1984. She described herself in an accompanying caption as the foundation’s main rescuer, healer, behaviorist, trainer, and matchmaker for adopters. Her fundraising goal of $5,000 was intended to cover spaying, neutering, microchipping, and rabies shots for a group of rescue dogs.
Blair has not been accused of any criminal activity. The Daily Mail said it contacted Blair for comment.
