Television presenter Lívia Andrade has dismissed romance rumours linking her with professional surfer Pedro Scooby after the two were spotted leaving an event together.
The rumours began after Scooby was seen leaving the Beija-Flor samba school court in Nilópolis alongside Andrade and several other people last week.
In an interview with TV Fama, the 43-year-old television host said she owes explanations to nobody and that what happened was very obvious to her. Andrade explained that people believe and think whatever they want and that she respects their views. She added that there would be no problem because she is single and he is too, but made clear that was not the case.
She described the gossip as annoying because people always try to invent something, though she insisted that everything is fine.
Pedro Scooby response to relationship claims
The 38-year-old surfer had already spoken out to reject the claims. Scooby said he spent the afternoon recording an interview in São Paulo and only saw the news after leaving the studio.
Scooby asked if he would now have to tell every woman who comes near him to stay away so people do not assume they are a couple. He said he was simply giving a friend a lift from Nilópolis, asking whether he was expected to tell her to stay put and call an Uber when he was already driving somewhere close by.
The surfer stressed that he is not in any relationship, stating that nothing happened and that he is not in the right frame of mind for dating. Scooby said he has been separated for two and a half months and has not been with anyone, warning people not to try to investigate because they will find nothing. He called making up stories disrespectful to himself, Andrade and Cintia.
Split from Cintia Dicker
Scooby recently separated from model Cintia Dicker. The couple had been together since 2019 and have a three-year-old daughter, Aurora.
Andrade is a prominent television presenter who rose to fame on Brazilian variety shows before joining TV Globo, while Scooby is a professional big-wave surfer who gained wider celebrity on reality television. Beija-Flor is one of the most famous samba schools in Rio de Janeiro, holding community rehearsals at its Nilópolis headquarters ahead of the annual carnival.
