Mediaset España has named Raúl López Palomar as its new Director of Antena, filling a vacancy left by the sudden exit of Unai Iparragirre. López Palomar, who had been in charge of programming at Cuatro, takes over the role on August 1 under the direct supervision of Alberto Carullo, the company's general director of Television.

Iparragirre had joined Mediaset from EiTB but left the post just eight months after arriving, forcing the group to urgently restructure its television management team.
Telecinco's record low
The reshuffle comes as Telecinco closed July with an average audience share of 7%, the lowest monthly figure in the channel's history. The result confirms a downward trend for the network heading into the new season.
By contrast, López Palomar arrives in the new role backed by strong results at Cuatro, where he had served as programming director since 2013. Under his management, Cuatro closed the 2025-26 season with its best audience figures in eight years, the only positive indicator in the group's annual results.
López Palomar has been with the company since 2009, having started out working on the FDF channel's schedule.
Pressure to reverse the slide
He now takes strategic control at a moment marked by instability in key executive positions at the company and pressure to reverse a steady loss of viewers to rival channels.
