Lorde was forced to pause her headlining set at the opening night of Lollapalooza in Chicago after multiple audience members passed out due to extreme heat, according to Rolling Stone.
The 29-year-old singer told the crowd, "You look hot from up here," before calling security to assist those affected. The festival is held at Grant Park.
The following day, Lorde reflected on the chaotic night in an Instagram post shared with her 11 million followers. "Last night felt crazy, very out of body, doubting myself a bit, period due, dizzy in the heat," she wrote.
She added that she is "brutally hard" on herself and "almost never" feels she did good enough, but said she "felt the crowd last night as a heaving organism of connection and love." She also praised festival staff, describing watching the crew break down the stage after midnight under a full moon. "I love you very much," she told fans.
Uzi Cancels, Then Reverses
Friday brought further disruption when Lil Uzi Vert, 31, was announced as no longer performing due to weather issues. Hours later, the festival reversed the decision, posting on Instagram Stories: "Surprise! Lil Uzi Vert will join Major Lazer on Perry's Stage tonight."
The Philadelphia-born rapper, also known as Uzi, shared footage from a vehicle traveling with a police escort and told Instagram followers he was on his way to the event.
Swedish pop star Zara Larsson, 28, had her set moved to a 6:20 start time in the wake of the initial cancellation. She teased her appearance with an Instagram selfie captioned "See you soon Lolla" before taking the stage in denim shorts, knee-high denim boots bearing her song titles, and a crop top.
Other Performers
Suki Waterhouse, 34, also performed, wearing patterned micro shorts and a fringed pink top. Finn Wolfhard, 23, best known for playing Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things, showcased his music while promoting his album Fire From The Hip, released July 10. Yungblud, 28, performed in a black leather outfit.
Other headliners on the bill include John Summit, Charli XCX, The Smashing Pumpkins, Jennie, Olivia Dean, Tate McRae, and The XX.
The festival also warned attendees on Friday that rain was in the area and would continue intermittently throughout the day.
