Spanish fashion designer Lourdes Montes has marked the final weekend of August by showcasing a bright neon yellow linen shirt worn as a relaxed pool caftan over a polka dot bikini.

The celebrity shared her late summer look on social media as the season transitions into autumn, highlighting the fluid shirt from Seville fashion brand Oli Mi Lola as an essential mid-season garment.

The oversize design features a lightweight collar with a front button placket, super wide sleeves trimmed in contrasting mauve, and delicate floral embroidery. Lifestyle reporting noted that the bright neon yellow shade was chosen to enhance a summer tan while adding a romantic, bohemian feel.

Versatile caftan styling for late summer

Montes demonstrated how the loose linen piece functions both as a traditional shirt and as an cover-up by the water. The versatile garment allows wearers to transition directly from poolside relaxing or beach sand to a local chiringuito without needing to change clothes at home.

Lourdes Montes, a former lawyer turned fashion designer who is married to Spanish bullfighter Francisco Rivera Ordonez, is widely recognised for her influence on contemporary Andalusian fashion. A chiringuito is a traditional Spanish beachside bar and restaurant typical of southern coastal regions, serving drinks and fresh seafood directly on the shoreline.

By introducing the neon shirt into her late August wardrobe, Montes added a new Sevillian label to her personal collection. Oli Mi Lola is an Andalusian clothing brand known for its relaxed, casual cuts and vibrant color palettes inspired by its southern Spanish roots.

Polka dot bikinis and beachwear trends

While the yellow linen shirt took center stage, Montes paired the piece with a classic polka dot bikini that attracted significant attention. Polka dot swimsuits and bikinis have emerged as a primary daily uniform throughout the summer months for both beach and pool outings.

Fashion commentators noted that such swimwear designs are frequently styled alongside linen shirts, flowing kimonos, and caftans favored by women over 50. One-piece swimsuits have similarly crossed over into urban fashion, being worn as bodysuits on city pavements away from the water.

Recent fashion choices and celebrity looks

The poolside ensemble follows another notable style choice by Montes just days earlier. On Friday, August 28, she made headlines in a striking fuchsia jumpsuit featuring an elephant print, reinforcing her preference for bold summer patterns.

Montes has frequently featured regional designers, including wearing an autumn guest jumpsuit from an Andalusian fashion house favored by Queen Letizia of Spain, as well as choosing local designs to attend a bullfight starring Peruvian matador Andres Roca Rey.

Other prominent figures in Spanish fashion circles have also highlighted bohemian September trends. Eugenia Martinez de Irujo, the Duchess of Montoro, recently showcased a floral blouse as a key transition piece, while her daughter Cayetana Tana Rivera was spotted wearing a boho vest designed by Martinez de Irujo.

In broader celebrity news reported alongside the late August fashion updates, actress Ester Exposito was seen on a date in Madrid with footballer Kylian Mbappe wearing a metallic gold top. Meanwhile in international news, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Queen Sonja of Norway wore formal black mourning attire for the funeral service of King Harald V of Norway.
