Luisa Zissman and Jenny Powell have sent their teenage daughters off to camp in torrential rain at the Reading and Leeds Festival over the bank holiday weekend.
Both mothers documented the departure on Instagram on Thursday, posting pictures of their children carrying tents and backpacks into the storm.
Music fans across the country face a wet weekend after flood alerts were issued, with parts of the United Kingdom expected to experience thunder, lightning and hail.
The downpours mark the end of a long period of hot and dry weather across Britain just as the festival gets underway at Little John's Farm in Reading and Bramham Park in Leeds.
Zissman, a media personality, shared a video of her 16-year-old daughter Dixie heading to the site in wellington boots and a waterproof poncho alongside her group of friends.
She captioned the clip by noting that the Reading event was going to be fun while admitting her anxieties as a mother.
"Up at 4.30am so this gang could get a good pitch," Zissman wrote. "They have had every pep talk going from drugs, to drink, to thieves, to not getting into fights etc. think I bored them to death."
She added: "One very nervous mama but we have to let them spread their wings."
Television presenter Jenny Powell also posted farewell messages as she dropped off her 17-year-old daughter Polly at the Leeds site.
Powell joked: "And off they went... Sending your 17-year-old off to Leeds Festival is apparently 10% excitement and 90% wondering whether water-resistant actually means waterproof."
She described preparing for days with tents, tarpaulins, waterproof jackets, waterproof trainers and emergency ponchos while developing an intense interest in weather forecasts.
Upon arrival, the family faced a 45-minute trudge through deep mud while hauling equipment on a trolley before the teenagers disappeared into the rain.
"Meanwhile, I drove home wondering if anything they own will ever be dry again," Powell told her social media followers.
She added: "Festival parents, are we all going through this?! And more importantly... HOW are your kids getting on?"
Powell concluded her message by wishing the teenagers a great weekend, telling them to make memories, look after each other and text their mothers occasionally.
The post prompted a reaction from broadcaster Denise Welch, whose son Matty Healy is the lead singer of the rock band The 1975.
Welch reminisced about her own experience sending her son to the festival in Yorkshire.
"I remember those days," Welch wrote. "Packing a hamper for Leeds for Matty and the boys. P*****g down. Hamper abandoned within an hour."
Campers Face Rain and Mud at Little John's Farm
Thousands of music revellers have arrived at Little John's Farm in Reading to set up camp despite relentless rainfall.
Attendees came prepared for wet conditions after downpours began on Friday afternoon.
Friday saw initial downpours interspersed with sunny spells starting at midday in Reading, with drizzly conditions carrying through into the early hours of Saturday morning.
Performances on Friday included sets by Charli XCX, Fontaines D.C. and Skepta.
Weather conditions are forecast to deteriorate further on Saturday, with drizzle turning to heavier rain from 7am until approximately 9pm.
Performers scheduled for Saturday evening include Raye, Dave and Sombr.
Sunday brings slight improvements, though light rain is expected from 9am straight through until Monday morning.
The final day of the festival features performances from Florence + The Machine alongside Chase & Status.
Luisa Zissman Triggers Podcast Backlash Over Fast Food Comments
The festival trip comes shortly after Zissman faced public criticism over comments made on her LuAnna podcast, which she co-hosts with presenter Anna Williamson.
Zissman sparked outrage by labelling people who consume McDonald's and fast food as lazy and unhealthy.
During the podcast episode, Zissman stated that she held negative views about people who eat fast food, describing McDonald's breakfast items in particular as gross and rank.
She argued that such food could not fuel a person effectively for the day ahead, calling consumers sloths.
When co-host Williamson suggested that a sausage McMuffin could be enjoyable in the morning, Zissman rejected the idea.
Zissman and Williamson captioned the podcast clip by apologising to listeners eating McFlurry desserts.
Social media users branded Zissman privileged, rude and judgmental following the remarks.
Rather than responding directly to the criticism, the presenter posted swimsuit photographs online after previously speaking out against skinny shamers.
