Beatriz Luengo, Mario Vaquerizo, Silvia Marty and Pau Echaniz compete in the final of TV reality show Maestros de la Costura Celebrity on Wednesday. The first challenge takes place inside the studio and centres on the legacy of Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani, who was born in Voghera and dressed international icons such as Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn prior to his retirement in 2008. The contestant who produces the best replica of a historic dress made for Andalusian stylist Naty Abascal will immediately earn the first white coat and a direct spot in the final duel. Abascal, a personal muse of Valentino, appears as a guest alongside Spanish presenter Pilar Rubio, who won the first celebrity edition of the show.
Bridal Design in the Madrid Mountains
The remaining three contestants must then travel to Hacienda Jacaranda, an event estate located in the sierra mountains of Madrid, to fight for the second final spot. In this outdoor challenge, candidates are tasked with tailoring innovative wedding dresses from delicate white fabrics.
To assist with the complex discipline of bridal fashion, the apprentices work under the direct guidance of prominent Spanish fashion designers Andrew Pocrid, Alicia Rueda, and Juan Vidal. The three creators supervise fabric handling and construction before the judging panel delivers its verdict.
Red Carpet Gala Duel and Fendi Inspiration
The two top finalists return to the studio set for the decisive final duel, which draws inspiration from the 100-year history of Roman luxury house Fendi. Both duellists are required to craft an original red carpet gala dress that showcases their technical evolution over the past ten weeks.
For the final deliberation, permanent judges including Spanish couturier Lorenzo Caprile are joined by guest judge María Fernández Miranda, a journalist and author. International fashion model Blanca Soler then wears the winning creation on the runway to reveal the new champion of the series.
