Marvel has cancelled its series Wonder Man despite having officially announced a second season renewal in March, according to Variety.
Over the five months since that announcement, the studio never began writing scripts for season two. Producers decided instead to continue the main character's story through related studio projects and possibly feature films.
Wonder Man debuted in late January and follows Hollywood actor Simon Williams, who gains unusual abilities from ionic radiation. He becomes Wonder Man while trying to balance a superhero life with his work in the film industry, keeping his powers secret.
The first season earned strong reviews, with 87 percent of users and 91 percent of critics recommending it on Rotten Tomatoes. The series was showrun by Andrew Guest and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley starred in lead roles.
