Asa Germann has been cast as Angel in Marvel's upcoming X-Men film, according to Russian outlet Чемпионат.com. Germann is best known for playing Andre Anderson in the Amazon Prime series "Gen V," a spinoff of the superhero show "The Boys." Gen V follows a group of young superheroes training at a college for the children of superheroes, in the same satirical universe as "The Boys." Germann's character in "Gen V," Andre Anderson, has magnetic powers.
Germann joins a cast that already includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Maya Boyd as Storm. Sink is widely known for playing Max Mayfield in the Netflix series "Stranger Things."
Connor is known for the war drama "Warfare," while Weaving starred in the horror franchise "Ready or Not." In the comics, Angel, whose real name is Warren Worthington III, is a winged mutant and one of the five original X-Men, alongside Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm and Emma Frost, the telepathic mutant known as the White Queen.
Director and Marvel Ties
The film will be directed by Jake Schreier, who previously directed the Marvel movie "Thunderbolts*" and episodes of the acclaimed series "Beef." X-Men is a Marvel Comics franchise centred on mutants, humans born with extraordinary powers who band together to defend a world that often fears and rejects them. The X-Men have appeared in numerous films and TV series since debuting in Marvel Comics in 1963.
Release Plans
The new X-Men film is due to follow "Avengers: Secret Wars," which is expected to partially relaunch the Marvel superhero franchise. Secret Wars is expected to bring together characters from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Filming on the project, one of Marvel's biggest bets, is set to begin in 2027.
