Jacob Tierney, creator of "Más Que Rivales," has asked fans to stay away from filming locations as production on the show's second season gets underway. The sports romance, centered on the relationship between Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, became a global phenomenon after its premiere.
Tierney posted a warning on Instagram telling followers of the show that if they come across any of the filming locations, they should give the cast and crew the space they need to do what they do best, adding that it would be worth the wait.
The request follows days of social media posts showing Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, the actors who play the two lead characters, walking through the streets of Toronto. The production team is trying to prevent further incidents of that kind.
New episodes and a time jump
Season two is currently filming without an official premiere date. It is set to adapt "The Long Game," the sixth volume of the "Game Changers" saga on which the series is based.
According to the showrunner, the story will jump forward ten years, catching up with the two leads at a critical point in their relationship.
Moving away from melodrama
Tierney said he wants to avoid sensationalist melodrama in the new season. The story will follow a couple who have kept their relationship secret for a decade, with Ilya wanting to make his sexual orientation public while Shane fears the professional fallout within elite hockey.
Tierney said it is a different stage for the characters, since the risk tied to their secret hotel romance is behind them. He said they now face adult problems of communication and cohabitation. He made the comments months ago during a panel alongside Rachel Reid, author of the book "Heated Rivalry," held at BookCon at the Javits Center in New York.
More screen time for a secondary couple
Beyond the central pair, fans will also see more of the dynamic between Kip, played by Robbie GK, and Scott Hunter, played by François Arnaud. GK has said he wants to explore that relationship further, after it reached a high point by the end of the first season.
