Melanie Chisholm and her new husband Chris Dingwall marked his 46th birthday during their honeymoon in Ibiza on Friday, with the Australian model sharing photos from the trip on Instagram showing the couple cosying up during a boat ride.
The Spice Girl, 52, and Dingwall married in an intimate ceremony in the Lake District before jetting to the island to celebrate with family and friends. In an unconventional move, Mel brought her mother Joan and stepfather Dennis along on the trip, and both appeared in Dingwall's Instagram post.
In the caption, Dingwall wrote that it had been a big week and that he was grateful to be celebrating turning 46 in a special place with some of the best people he knows. Mel commented underneath: "Happy Birthday husband. I love you."
A private past
It emerged earlier this week that Dingwall is a divorcee who separated from a previous wife after a short marriage, according to insiders, because they wanted different things in life. He had met the actress, a fellow Australian named Tamara Salamacha, after a chance encounter in Barcelona. That relationship ended 15 years ago during a period when Dingwall was pursuing an acting career in Hollywood.
Dingwall met Mel on celebrity dating app Raya three years ago, with their first date taking place in Sydney. He proposed in July 2025 during a romantic getaway in Mallorca, Spain.
A friend of Dingwall's described him as someone who maintains a very low profile, particularly when it comes to relationships, and said that although he spent many years based in Los Angeles and was surrounded by celebrities, he kept his personal life out of the spotlight.
Post-wedding celebrations
Mel told Vogue that she had not grown up fantasising about her wedding day but had experienced an awakening in her 50s, adding that when Dingwall proposed she knew immediately it was the right thing to do. She had openly sworn off marriage for many years before changing her mind, particularly after turning 50 and wanting to experience all the things.
After the Lake District ceremony, the couple headed to the Chinois Ibiza nightclub where Mel performed a DJ set. She swapped her bridal gown, designed by Spice Girls co-star Victoria Beckham, for an oversized T-shirt and trainers. Dingwall wore a T-shirt that riffed on Nike's Just Do It slogan, reading Just Did It, in reference to their nuptials.
Beckham was the only Spice Girl to miss the wedding. Mel B, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton all attended, with Mel B in a champagne bodycon dress, Horner in a white floral gown and Bunton in a pink checked Vivienne Westwood trouser suit.
Mel told Vogue that the spark with Dingwall was immediate when they met while she was 49, and that he had been a beautiful addition to her life and to that of her 17-year-old daughter.
