According to Johnny Depp’s agent, Disney promised $22 million for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’ before Amber Heard uncovered their violent relationship.
Wrapped in a war of terrible accusations crossed with Amber Heard, Johnny Depp continues to point to his ex-partner as ultimately responsible for the fact that Disney has decided that the saga ‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘ must go on without Captain Jack Sparrow.
In the current defamation trial between Depp and Heard for an opinion piece published in The Washington Post in 2018, the actor’s agent has stated that his client was to receive $22.5 million to star in ‘pirates of the caribbean 6‘ but that, after the publication of said text, Disney decided to go “in another direction”.
“After the op-ed it was impossible to get him a studio movie,” Whigham said.
Recall that one sunny day, somewhere in the Caribbean, Captain Barbossa steals Captain Jack Sparrow’s ship. Add to the mix the brave daughter of the governor of Port Royal, an idealistic young man with a thirst for adventure, an English navy commander who hates pirates, and a curse that turns privateers into living skeletons. The adventure courtesy of Michael Eisner Y Jerry Bruckheimerwas served.
‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl‘ (Gore Verbinski, 2003) and his saga of adventures between atolls and mysterious caves impregnated with saltpeter and the dark arts had it all: adventure, romance, rum, wooden legs, curses, more rum, charismatic characters, hidden treasures, a little more rum, parrots on your shoulder and a soundtrack that football fans say is the best since Jerry Goldsmith for ‘Total challenge‘.
And the box office continued to respond with its two initial follow-up sequels and, later, with the disjointed ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides‘ (Rob Marshall, 2011) and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge‘ (Joachim Rønning, Espen Sandberg, 2017). But the fear of an upcoming downward curve of income was added to the problems on and off set with its star.
