The Shrek Horror Short That Will Make You Fear Fiona: You Won’t See The Movie The Same

There’s been a theory for a long time that Fiona from “Shrek” is a cannibal, and in the first DreamWorks movie she survived in the castle by being fed by the knights who came to try to save her.

Taking this idea and doing what many fans want (seeing a live action movie with ‘Shrek’), one fan made it a reality and turned the animated movie into a horror story.

“Fiona”: the short that transforms “Shrek” into a horror story

As fans wait for DreamWorks to announce “Shrek 5,” avid filmmaker Andy Chen, with his independent company Locust Garden Pictures, shot a short film titled “Fiona,” based on the characters of “Shrek.”

This short joins the films that put a horror twist on the classic stories and shows what really happened to the knights who managed to outrun the dragon and meet Fiona inside the castle.

In the 4-minute YouTube video, a knight named Calum is seen walking through the dark passages of the castle while finding the remains of other brave men who weren’t so lucky.

When he meets Princess Fiona and is about to kiss her, which will allow her to take the form of her true love, night falls, causing the princess to transform into a dragon.

A horrified Calum leaves and realizes that the other knights have been killed and eaten by the ogre. Fiona in her monstrous form chases the man, begging for a kiss, but when she catches up with him she ends up devouring him.

The short stars Dakota Daulby, Sof Puchley and Maddi Estrada. Additionally, creator Andy Chen on his personal page on December 19, 2022 explained the process of transforming Maddi Estrada into Fiona and the ogre form.

Chen confessed that the idea for this story came to him while discussing ways to promote his new film studio with a friend. Since it was a month before Halloween he thought of something scary.

Later, when they learned that their friend had made medieval sets at Sight Studios in Los Angeles, they decided on a fictional story and thus ended up adapting the theory that Fiona is a cannibal.

Even Princess Fiona’s transformation into ogre form was done for practical effect, with one video showing the creators filling a special suit with balloons to give the effect of her body growing unnaturally large.
