‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’, the new planet of the apes movie

20th Century Studios announces the start of filming for ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’the new film in the ‘Planet of the Apes’ saga and the first to be protected under the Disney brand.

This is one of the most popular and long-running franchises of -the now known as- 20th Century Studios with a collection of more than 1,700 million dollars at the box office around the world. Twentieth Century-Fox released the first installment of the series in 1968, followed by four theatrical sequels and two television series. After ‘Planet of the Apes‘ (Franklin J. Schaffner, 1968), probably the best thing that has happened to Pierre Boulle’s novel has been the contemporary trilogy but, converted into a franchise from the day it was released, the completists still lick their lips thinking about the inferior ones (although each one is interesting in its own way)’return to the planet of the apes‘ (Ted Post, 1970), ‘Escape from the planet of the apes‘ (Don Taylor, 1971), ‘the rebellion of the apes‘ (J. Lee Thompson, 1972) and ‘Battle for the planet of the apes‘ (J. Lee Thompson, 1973).

After the hunk Tim Burton disaster, Fox let the franchise breathe for a decade and, to everyone’s surprise, in 2011 we came across ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ by Rupert Wyattthe film that would open a brilliant story that would be in charge of closing Matt Reeves with ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ (2014) and ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ (2017).

Wes Ball, responsible for the ‘The Maze Runner’ trilogy, is the director of the film. The script is the work of Josh Friedman (‘The War of the Worlds’), Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’), and Patrick Aison (‘Predator: The Prey’). Joe Hartwick Jr. (‘The Maze Runner’), Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver and Jason Reed (‘Mulan’) are the producers and Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping serve as executive producers.

We already know the main protagonists of ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’. Owen Teague -Patrick Hockstetter in ‘It’ (Andy Muschietti, 2017)-, Freya Allan -Ciri in ‘The Witcher’- and Peter Macon -Bortus in ‘The Orville’will be part of a cast that has recently joined dichen lachmanan actress we could see in ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’.
