“It’s powerful to say no”
Kim Cattrall has broken his silence on the absence of her iconic character Samantha Jones in the ‘Sex and the City’ reboot, ‘And Just Like That…‘.
In an interview with Variety, Cattrall reaffirmed that he would not be returning to the franchise in any way: “It’s great wisdom to know when enough is enough. I also didn’t want to compromise what the show was for me. The way forward seemed clear.”
He also gave his opinion on how the series wrote his character, with Samantha moving to London and breaking up with Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) after she was fired as a publicist for the latter’s book.
When asked about the direction ‘And Just Like That’ has taken with Samantha, Cattrall revealed that she feels the show has decided the consequences of her character with Carrie as if she were an outsider: “She feels different than the Samantha I played.”
Speaking about the main plot of the reboot, which confirms that he has not seenCattrall commented on his similarity to the discarded film ‘Sex and the City 3‘.
“The series is basically the third movie. That’s how creative they have been“, said.

While, Cattrall has been busy with other television projects, playing Sophie in ‘How I Met Your Father’ and Brenda in the ‘Queer as Folk’ reboot. She is also starring alongside Robert De Niro in the upcoming comedy film ‘About My Father’.
Meanwhile, ‘And Just Like That’ has confirmed its second season. with a release date yet to be confirmed.
The cast of the series, by contrast, praised how Samantha’s absence from the series was handled.
“The story about Samantha I think is great. I think it’s very true, I think it’s very true that friends sometimes break up,” said the actress who plays Charlotte, Kristina Davis.
