Low-income youth win college scholarships in technology

The Instituto IT Mídia initiative has already benefited around 700 students

The IT Mídia Institute, through the Professional of the Future program, has awarded, in 2023, 45 new exclusive scholarships to low-income young people in São Paulo. The initiative aims to train these students for the technology market, which suffers from a shortage of skilled workforce.

Two-year degree courses are held at FIAP. The 2023 scholarships were distributed to the following courses: Analysis and Development of Systems, Digital Games, Data Science, Cyber Defence, Information Technology Management, Artificial Intelligence, Internet Systems, Artificial Intelligence Technology and Cloud Computing.

The women are present

This year, 35% of the class is made up of women. According to the director general of the Mídia IT Institute, Vitor Cavalcanti, despite being a step forward, it is still a way forward.

“The technology area is mainly made up of men and we want to help change this scenario. We have improved the selection process to include more women and have worked closely with partner institutions ― where students are selected ― to encourage young women to pursue a career in the exact sciences,” analyzes Vitor.
