Before James Gunn’s new plan for DC movies takes effect, “The Flash” movie will serve to reboot the entire cinematic universe and show different versions of classic characters.
“The Flash” will not only have two Batmans (Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck) and two versions of Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) at the same time, but a new Kryptonian will appear instead of Clark Kent/Superman.
This was shown in the official trailer for the film, where Barry goes back in time, changes the course of history, and instead of Henry Cavill’s Superman existing in his universe, Supergel is the one that appears.

‘The Flash’: who is the new Supergirl?
In the film, it appears that Michael Keaton’s Batman and Barry Allen’s two versions go to a secret government facility to rescue a super-powered being, which is Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin in the comics.
Kara is played by the American actress with Colombian roots Sasha Calle, 28 years old and known for her role in the series “The Young and the Restless” (2018-2021) and the short “Young Blood” (2019).
The movie is based on the Flashpoint comics, where Barry goes back in time to save his mother, but in doing so creates a very different future where everything is worse.
In this reality, Superman’s ship is not saved by Kent’s marriage, but the government finds it and keeps Kal-El locked away for decades, until he is freed by the Flash and this future’s Batman.
The story of the movie looks to be very similar to this one, with Supergirl locked up her whole life in a state prison, until the Flash and Batman (Keaton) free her to help them stop General Zod (Michael Shannon). .
‘The Flash’: What powers does Sasha Calle’s Latina Supergirl have?
Design-wise, this version of Supergirl has a lot in common with Lara Lane Kent in the comics, who is the daughter of Clark Kent and Lois Lane in another universe and wears a similar outfit and hairstyle to Calle’s in the film.
Kara Zor-El is Kryptonian and gets her powers from the yellow sun, so they are the same as her cousin Superman: flight, super strength, super speed, heat vision, super hearing, and x-ray vision.
It is currently unknown if Sasha Calle will continue as Supergirl. James Gunn has announced that there will be a solo film of the character called “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” and it appears that the Latina actress will not be reprising her role.
Gunn, revealing his plans for the DC films, commented that “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” will be based on the comics of the same title, which depict the history and origin of Kara before she became Supergirl.
For this reason it sounds difficult for Sasha Kale to be cast in a film where the origin of the character is retold. Although anything can happen and Gunn himself has said that they don’t have anything solidified yet.
“The Flash” with Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, Michael Shannon, Sasha Calle, Kiersey Clemons, Ron Livingston and Maribel Verdú opens June 16, 2023.
