Game of Thrones: The books explain how the mountain survived and no one wanted to know that detail

At the end of his unforgettable legal duel against Oberyn Martell (aka the Viper) in Season 4 Episode 8, we thought the Game of Thrones giant would never rise. Although he managed to crush his opponent’s skull like a ripe fruit, Ser Gregor Clegane, alias The Mountain, was indeed mortally wounded by a poisoned Dornish spear.

However, after a brief stint in the nefarious Maester Qyburn’s evil lab, undergoing some rather mysterious treatment, the Knight was able to make his grand comeback in the series’ 5th season, more dead than alive but fit for battle. Packed with heavy iron armor.

The HBO series gives little detail about the nature of the “care” given to the mountain by Qyburn, known for his necromancy. However, even if George A.R.
