Three people were rescued alive in Kahramanmaras province, in southeastern Turkey, after being buried for 198 hours under the rubble of the earthquake that devastated the country and Syria on 6 February.
The information was disclosed by the Turkish state news agency Anadolu this Tuesday (14). Among the survivors are two brothers: a 17-year-old, identified as Muhammed Enes, and a 20-year-old named Abdulbaki. The two were hospitalized with multiple injuries.
The third is Muhammed Cafer Cetin, who was pulled from the rubble of a building in Adiyaman, Turkish state TV TRT reported, showing footage of the rescue operation.
In total, according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, rescue teams have pulled more than 8,000 people alive from the rubble of collapsed buildings after the devastating earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale, which killed more than 37,000 people.
Furthermore, 81,000 wounded have already been discharged from hospitals and more than 100 countries have sent messages of solidarity to Turkey, concluded the Turkish leader. .
