‘America’s Bride’: Exclusive clip of the new comedy starring Miren Ibarguren

‘La novia de América’ is the funny comedy that will hit theaters throughout Spain on February 17. The film, one of the most anticipated Spanish films of 2023, has a luxury cast, which is headed by Miren Ibarguren, (which we have seen in ‘Mama o papa’, ‘La que se avecina’ or ‘The game of keys’). In this funny story he is accompanied by Ginés García Millán (seen in ‘Who killed Sara?’, ‘Libertad’), Pol Monen (‘Who would you take to a deserted island’, ‘Your son”, ‘Amar’), Eduardo Casanova (‘Lord, give me patience’, ‘Aida’, ‘On the summer side’), Pepa Charro (‘Father there is only one’, ‘The Passenger Lovers”) as well as the actors Diana Bovio, Christian Vázquez and Maribel Guardia.

In the story we will meet Ana (Ibarguren), a young Spanish woman who has been abandoned by her boyfriend. She and her brother Tono (Monen) receive surprising news: Pepe, her father, is marrying a woman he met online. They decide to travel to Mexico to attend the wedding, but what they find there is not exactly what they expected: Rous, the bride, in addition to being younger than them, has a large Mexican family, from a popular neighborhood and the Noisier, headed by Lupe (the mother), who has prepared a welcome for them that they will never forget in their lives. Especially Ana, who will meet Horacio, the irresistible brother of her girlfriend, a Mexican who will make her “very nervous.” Both families will have to overcome prejudices and cultural shocks to discover that love can be in the different.

In the clip that we present to you exclusively at FOTOGRAMAS, we see the protagonist dedicating a toast at a wedding. We soon see that the spouses are Arturo, her ex, hers, and Claudia, her new partner, who are stunned as soon as they see her. Ana begins by raising her glass to her boyfriends. She will then explain that Arturo was her boyfriend for eight years. That and other private details of her, her and other girls who are also at the banquet. Now that is serving revenge in a cold cup. And champagne.

The director, Alfonso Albacete, returns with another film after releasing ‘Solo química’ in 2015, with Rodrigo Guirao, Ana Fernández and Alejo Sauras. She has also been behind titles, co-directed with David Menkes, such as ‘Lies and fat’, ‘I love you baby’, ‘I will survive’ or ‘More than love, frenzy’ among others.

‘La novia de América’ is produced by Tornasol, La novia de América AIE (Spain) in co-production with Animal de Luz Films (Mexico) with the participation of Movistar Plus+, and will be released thanks to AContracorriente Films.

‘America’s Sweetheart’ will hit theaters on February 17.
