While children’s shows like “Arthur” are ending, other productions are being reinvented to bring back beloved characters, such as Barney the dinosaur who lives in the minds of children.
For 14 seasons show “Barney and Friends” (which you can watch for free on ViX) captivated generations of children with their songs, imagination and teachings imparted by cute little dinosaurs.
Now, as part of its new strategy to relaunch its content, Mattel is gearing up from a live-action Barbie movie with Margot Robbie to Barney’s return to television in 2010.

Mattel has announced that the Barney franchise will be relaunched with an animated series, a movie, YouTube videos, as well as a new line of toys and other products based on the dinosaur’s new image.
The company also shared the first look at Barney’s new look, which ditches the suit and gives the character a vibrant, modern look. His new series is expected to be released in 2024.
The original “Barney & Friends” first aired on PBS in 1992 and ran until 2010. More than 100 kids appeared in its episodes, including some who would become famous like Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez.

Being a radical change from what most people know about Barney, the new look has been met with mixed reactions online, from some applauding his modernization to others strongly criticizing it.
Among the things some Twitter users commented on was that Barney joins the list of classic characters that have been modernized to appeal to the new generation and that they fear their essence will change.
But there were those who applauded the idea and the idea of bringing Barney back so a new generation of kids could grow up with his teachings and get to know the beloved characters.
Although she has been somewhat criticized for even looking thinner, many are celebrating that the franchise has not been forgotten.
