Coach search, friendlies: CBF president outlines next steps for Brazil squad

Ednaldo Rodrigues spoke to the press after a meeting with the clubs at the headquarters of the entity and commented on Canarinha’s issues

A meeting between presidents of clubs and federations, held this Tuesday at the headquarters of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), discussed various issues on the upcoming season of the sport nationally. However, even though it was about clubs, the Brazilian team was once again on the agenda.

President Ednaldo Rodrigues, in an interview after the end of the meeting, commented on the next steps for Canarinha, which does not yet have a technical commission. The representative of the top national football body revealed that the search for a commander is closer and also commented on possible friendlies.

NEXT CHOICE?

According to Ednaldo, research is getting ever closer to a happy ending. The CBF has analyzed the names since Tite’s departure and some have gained more traction, such as Carlo Ancelotti and Jorge Jesus. The president has guaranteed that the Brazilian team will have a commander and a technical commission by the middle of the year.

– We are working to choose the coach in our time, we can’t go wrong. In our time, making sure that the best can be put on the coaching staff. By the middle of the year we will certainly have a coach – said Ednaldo Rodrigues.

INTERMEDIATE IN THE FIRST CHALLENGES

The CBF president also confirmed that he is very close to closing friendlies on the next FIFA date. Brazil will face Morocco, fourth in the last World Cup, on 24 or 25 March. However, if you don’t find a coach by then, Ednaldo has confirmed that he has Ramon Menezes, coach of the under 20 category.

– It is possible (to lead the selection in the friendly). He did a great job with the under 20 team. It’s a hypothesis we’re studying,” he added.

In addition to the match against Morocco, Brazil should continue training, with the aim of adapting possible new faces to the team. For the moment, the Brazilian team remains without a coach and still has some uncertainties, such as the return of Neymar, who has lost track of his future in the yellow jersey after being eliminated from the World Cup.
