The president of the Rio de Janeiro Bar Association (OAB-RJ), Luciano Bandeira, called for the immediate evacuation of the building, in downtown Rio de Janeiro, due to a bomb threat this Wednesday morning (02/ 15).
The bomb squad of the Civil Police have been called and is on site to investigate what happened.
According to initial information, someone, still unidentified, would have left a letter in the bathroom informing of the presence of the artifact in the building. At the time of the letter’s discovery, according to the lawyers, there had been a ceremony for the delivery of the new lawyers’ portfolios. There were about 250 people in the building’s plenary alone.
All activities at the institution’s headquarters have been suspended.
The military and civilian police are acting together in the action and have intensified the policing activities on the spot.
