While many of this year’s major studio films received gorgeous new trailers (or gorgeous new teasers for trailers that were online), Disney has decided not to promote its live-action remake of The little Mermaid, instead preferring to give it some space away from that gigantic, overloaded collection of images. So here’s the new TV spot for the film…
While the previous teaser mostly focused on Halle Bailey as Ariel, the titular mermaid, this brief new look at the film features more characters, including Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) and, finally, Ursula, the Witch of the Sea. sea. performed here by Melissa McCarthy.
She, of course, is key to the story, in which Ariel takes a look at the world above (and at Eric) and decides what she really wants is to live up there among the humans. She then makes a deal with Ursula for her legs instead of her tail, exchanging her voice in the process.
This new version of the musical film is courtesy of director Rob Marshall, and The little Mermaid It will be in theaters on May 26.
