Keanu Reeves praised the reasons that make cinema so beneficial to John Wick 4 audiences
In the era of streaming services, several films that could be released in theaters are discarded from theaters and go direct to online platforms, such as Netflix, HBO Max It is Amazon Prime Video. John Wick 4 could have had that fate, but Keanu Reeves made sure the new entry in the franchise landed directly on the big screen.
During an interview with wired, reeves explained how he always wanted the fourth film in the action franchise starring him to hit theaters before streaming. As justification, the actor spoke about the virtues of the big screen and how the scale helps in immersing the audience.
“It’s dreams, right? And immersion. I think the power of cinema – part of it is the novelty, but also the scale. You see a close-up of a wonderful performance with emotions and narratives that touch you,” he said. “Whether it’s horror, action or comedy, you’re looking at a face that’s, you know, 20 feet tall. Yes. You are there. The intimacy of it.”
