Last we saw Rami Malek in spy thriller territory, he really was the bad guy, threatening Daniel Craig’s 007 and the entire world in there is no time to die. But for a potential future film, it could be on the other end of the moral spectrum, but with a vengeful bent. Malek is attached to the star the hobbyistWhat’s wrong slow horses director James Hawes is also on board.

Gary Spinelli wrote the final draft of the screenplay, which follows a CIA cryptographer who, after his wife is tragically killed in a terrorist attack in London, calls on his bosses to prosecute them. When it becomes clear they won’t act due to conflicting internal priorities, he blackmails the agency into training him and lets him go after them himself.

Malek will soon star in Christopher Nolan openheimer and is on board a miniseries about the life and career of Buster Keaton.

Hawes, meanwhile, has an extensive directing résumé in addition to handling the (excellent) first season of slow horses – also worked black mirror, raised by wolves, scary penny AND Doctor who, to name a few. Yes the hobbyist united, it would have been his second cine-concert, after A lifewith Helena Bonham Carter and Anthony Hopkins.
