This spring event was where it all begins: the first graduation party of the Auguste Armand Institute, which Jasmine (Zoe Severin) imagined to get closer to Axel (Thomas and Costa).
And if the evening turned into a nightmare in the episodes of Wednesday and Thursday, the ball still offered the viewer pleasant moments before the disaster. The preparation scenes, then the joy on the dance floor, allowed the fans to admire the fabulous costumes of their favorite characters, who, of course, wore 31 for the occasion.
After an exclusive interview with director Jerome Navarro, who told us how these episodes of the disaster were filmed, AlloCiné offers you to learn more today about how they imagined the appearance and attire of Here’s characters. It all starts with a costume designer. TF1 Soap Opera, Stephanie Boyard.
Charlene’s dress, a jeweled Elliott coat, or even a jasmine gold top … Student costumes will not keep you a secret!
AlloCiné: Were you wearing the costumes of Salome, Jasmine, Elliot and others during the prom night by your team specifically for these episodes?
Stephanie Boyard (Costume Manager): Actually, these are mostly basic purchases. Even if something was specially made.
But in any case, of course, is that everything is completely thought out for these episodes. They are not recycled clothes from the usual wardrobe of the characters. A survey was conducted for each role. For some there was production, for some a lot of retouching, things that changed. All the attire took a lot of hard work.
Can you tell us which costumes are creative?
Jasmine top is completely done. We have been looking for a long time for what we could wear with this tutu. After a lot of searching to not really find what we wanted, we made a choice of fabrics and made it to the top.
There is also the jacket of Eliot (Nicolas Anselmo), which was originally offered by Mehdi (Marvin Pellegrino). During the fitting, I was looking for a slightly extra coat for Eliot and picked up a mehdi jacket which was a very simple black suit jacket that we completely redesigned. We adjusted, changed the collar, took the laps, shoulders. This is the part that required the most hard work.
And every badge we see on the coat is actually an earring. With all the jewelry I had planned for the prom, there was a lot to do, so I picked up a few coats to make. And for Jasmine it’s a bit the same: the scarf she has in her hair was originally a necklace that we turned into a hair decoration.

How many people work in your team on a daily basis? And has this number increased for the purposes of the episodes of this event?
We work with 10 to 15 people on a daily basis, two sets between shoots, extra, training, costume care, fitting management, shopping. And we were even more for the ball, yes. About 18 men I would say. Really great team.
How long did it take to prepare for these prom episodes?
It was very intense. I started my first shopping in mid-January and filming started on March 8th. So for about two months, of course, in parallel with the usual costumes of the series. Because it was apart from the rest, daily life at that time did not stop.
Was the main challenge to reflect the personality of each character in their attire?
absolutely. That was the whole point. It was especially necessary not to lose each other in person. And at the same time it should have been on a uniform whole level. We wanted to feel both the character’s personality and the stakes at the ball level. For example, like Jasmine who wants to become a prom queen. It should have appeared in her attire.
Do we have to protect the visual atmosphere and the very “blue” color of the episodes?
In terms of colors, we put the whole figure in such a way that it gives the background color to the image. I think it is very important to take care of the figure. And, for example, I just wanted Charlene (Paula Petrenko) to be dressed in red, she had to stand out from the others. And knowing that the scenery was blue, we had to work on a background that was ultimately blue and gold. And always keep that in mind.
When you have 26 roles and 70 extras, succeeding in doing something different from one person to another, with limited decor and colors, was a bit of a stretch. We had to make sure everyone was different from the others and distinctive.

What was your inspiration? We definitely think of American prom series like Gossip Girl …
The idea, compared to the American prom, was that we have a bit of a French touch. We did not want to fall into the cliché of long, glamorous dresses. We wanted something quite fun.
In terms of inspiration, I really like working on sex education outfits. I really liked the ball that was in one of the episodes. When I watch this series, I realize that you can never see any inconsistency between the superfluous and the rest of the actors. I love it. There was a young woman in sex education who came in a tuxedo, she was very advanced. We did this in the role of a figure. But the series is also very advanced in terms of colors.
Was it a pretty fun challenge for the heroes in the traditional kitchen costumes and casual wear for this ball?
Yes, it was very interesting. On such daily series we rarely have the opportunity to go so far. There, for the ball, we could really have fun. I think this is a real chance. I was quite free to make many suggestions and did not have any special barriers.
The ball turns into a catastrophe, everyone’s outfit is covered in dust, dirt and damage. So we had to create two versions of each garment, right?
Yes, every role had a clean version of their attire and a pre-contaminated version. In order to be as efficient as possible on the shooting range and not to spoil everything on the spot. Even if you add dust to the shooting area once. But everything was pre-arranged.
As soon as you take the time to do everything the way you like, you destroy everything (laughs). That was what was wonderful. There was a creative side to the heroes study and a very interesting chicken work on the costumes.

Do you have any favorite clothes?
I really liked all the attire for the prom night. Hard question (laughs). This is a kit that works very well. All the actors were very involved, they were happy. I’ve seen them all at least 4 or 5 times to subtly switch from one device to another. But really if I had to make a choice, I would say I really like the Eliot-Jasmine duo who opens the ball. But overall I was very happy.
With all these dresses and these ball costumes, was there any jealousy between the actors and actresses?
That was a little bit scary for me from the beginning. Choosing dresses is always a bit difficult. We are afraid that such a person will say “he, he is more beautiful than me. I wanted it so, why not?”. But I think they were all very happy with their matching outfits. Everyone thought it suited their characters well. There was no jealousy.
On the contrary, we worked in good faith, meeting each other beautifully. And they really thought about their characters.
