get the moon

Hello tomorrow from the first pictures! stands out as a science fiction series with a particularly stylized aesthetic. With its 100% retro look that evokes the 1950s, but with a hint of retro-futurism that makes it all a little kitsch and quirky, it highlights the famous salesmen or sales representatives who went door-to-door.

One of them, Jack, played by Billy Crudup, serves up an unstoppable pitch to anyone who crosses his path, including a completely desperate guy who drowns his sorrows in several pints of beer. He sells them timeshares on the moon, or vacation rentals.

He is literally selling their dreams. But with his smile, charisma and barker’s way of talking that makes people believe that all their problems will magically disappear, he could sell the Eskimos a flop.

Undoubtedly, the vintage aesthetic is the main asset of Hello Tomorrow! Old American cars float 50 centimeters off the ground. Robots, whose design borrows from the design of the 1950s, carry out service in the canteens. All the characters are dressed to the nines, looking like they came out of Don Draper’s fantasy in Mad Men.

The tone of the series is quite light, but something is brewing beneath Jack’s slightly smooth face. The latter hires his own son as a sales force without revealing his true identity to him. Beneath that flawless lock and behind that reassuring smile is above all a man who looks very lonely.

The first three episodes are available now, followed by one episode per week until April 7.
