What does it remind you of the most, ‘The Silence of the Lambs’, ‘Fargo’ or ‘The Thing’?
HBO Max has unveiled the first official image of Jodie Foster and Kali Reis as the leading investigators of season 4 of ‘True Detective’.
The new season of the detective series, ‘True Detective: Night Country‘, will be set in Ennis, Alaska, on a permanent night. Six men disappear without a trace at Tsalal, an Arctic research stationand investigators Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will face ice and darkness to try to clarify the facts.
Jodie Foster returns to the thriller, the genre that confirmed her Hollywood star status in 1991 with ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ and her Clarice Starling, the FBI agent trying to hunt down a serial killer with the advice of cannibal inmate Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins)..
In the first official photograph of the HBO series, we can see the two protagonists heavily sheltered between the snow and ice of the Arctic, in an image that reminds us of Frances McDormand in ‘Fargo’ or, even, reviewing the plot, to ‘The Thing (The enigma from another world)’ by John Carpenter.
The series’ Twitter account also shared a very short first teaser this week, with the first look at the tone of the series and Foster and Reis in action. Let us also remember that Kali Reis is a boxing champion currently awarded the WBA, WBO and IBO belts.

The 3 seasons of ‘True Detective’ to date have been characterized by being stories that are self-contained and different from each other, with different characters and crimes on each occasion. The first premiered in 2014, with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as the leading couple and very marked influences by North American Gothic literature. The second season aired in 2015 with Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch leading the cast, while the third with Mahershala Ali and Stephen Dorff came out in 2019.
Season 4 of ‘True Detective still does not have a confirmed release date in our country, but everything indicates that will be available on HBO Max during the second half of the year being one of the best HBO Max series in 2023 that you must see.
