September 24, 2021 landed on Netflix season 1 of Braqueurs, an action series created by Julien Leclercq and Hamid Hlioua and directed by Sami Bouajila and Tracy Gotoas, who immediately knew how to capture the subscribers of the platform.
The first season opened with Shainez (Sofia Lezaffre) and Liana (Gotoas), two friends who pretended to be escorts to rob a client in a hotel. But when they thought they had stolen money from him, they discovered that the bag they had taken actually contained drugs belonging to a powerful trafficker operating in the region.
In order to take revenge, the latter decided to kidnap Shainez. His uncle Mehdi (camped by Sami Buajila) is then forced to commit a robbery to save him. Together with Lyanna, he robs a warehouse full of drugs and saves the ones he loves.
Of course, things didn’t go as planned and there were a lot of deaths during the final episode. While Robbers season 2 will be streaming online this Friday, February 17th on Netflix, a little recap of the season 1 finale is in order.
A failed rescue mission
The first season of Robbers revolved around one mission: to save Shainez. A task that Mehdi and his team managed to achieve. After finding the young woman, Mehdi decided to take her safely to a hideout in the middle of the forest so that she could be forgotten for a while.
But without considering Sofia (Nabiha Akkar), he revealed to Chris (Gert van Rumpelberg) where the young girl was. The latter’s henchmen arrive at the scene before Mehdi intervenes and kills the young woman and her mother Anisa (Lubna Azabal) in front of the hostage Liana.
At the same time, Chris’ henchmen open fire on Mehdi and Hassan (Nuredin Farihi) in the parking lot. Saber (Salim Kechiuche), who had earlier been attacked by the killer in his office, managed to join them and bring his father to safety, but he was still injured in the fight.
However, Hasan refused to go to the hospital for fear that the authorities would return him to prison. After that, an argument started between father and son, and the latter decided to shoot Hasan.
In turn, to avenge the death of his family and his gang members, Mehdi infiltrated Chris’s drug lab and destroyed his setup. He also managed to get his hands on Sofia.
But when he was about to kill her, she confessed that she was pregnant. Mehdi decided to leave her. But he was injured while leaving the building, forcing Liana and Tony to take him to the hospital. As for Sofia, she was going to Saber to find and kill Hassan. But the young man told him that his father was already dead.
Saber as a drug addict
Five months later, we find that Saber and Sophia are now at the head of the gang. The latter then persuaded Saber not to go to Morocco and prepare an army to control the port of Antwerp and thereby spread his activities throughout Europe. However, this ambitious plan means they will have to go to war with other drug lords.
At the end of the last episode of the first season, a masked Liana entered the hospital and threatened people with a gun. He was coming to free Mehdi…
