Justice League Dark: Bad News for Star Wars 7 Director’s DC Series!

The reboot of the DC Comics universe has a new victim. The appointment of director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran at the helm of DC Studios already follows the cancellation of the third Wonder Woman, but also the departure of Henry Cavill as Superman, while a new translator will be chosen. Goals for a brand new start for the Kryptonian superhero.

Recently, eight new projects were announced – four movies and four series, and the first chapter of the DC franchise was rebooted. Gods and monsters (“About Gods and Monsters” in French) will begin in 2025 through the Green Lanterns series (a new version that will replace the version originally developed by Greg Berlanti, the father of the Arrowverse).

Bye bye Justice League Dark

As a direct result of this fresh start, DC Studios recently canceled a new series that had been announced for several years. Described as a “dark” version of the famous superhero team, Justice League Dark brought together several iconic characters from the franchise, such as John Constantine and Swamp Thing.

Originally conceived as a feature film by Guillermo del Toro, Justice League Dark was eventually to see the light of day as a television series under the supervision of JJ Abrams, as part of his lucrative collaboration contract signed with the HBO Max platform.

But while the director of Star Wars Postlogy Episodes VII and IX was assigned to the detective series Duster, our colleagues HollywoodReporter Reveal that Justice League Dark has officially been shut down by Warner and DC Studios.

A small consolation prize: DC Comics fans will still be able to find John Constantine in Keanu Reeves’ guise on the upcoming Constantine 2 release date, and a Swamp Thing feature film has been announced by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
