We spoke to Marvel’s Wasp about kicking off Phase 5, a Quantum Realm full of crazy and surreal ideas where, yes, there’s something that stands out above the rest.
‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania’ is already in the best theaters. Nothing more and nothing less than Phase 5 of Marvel begins with this tape, one that we already know will have the Multiverse as a great playground and Kang the Conqueror as a great villain. We have already explained a little more about it, with spoilers, in the explained ending of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania’ and in our analysis of the post-credits scenes of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantunmania’. But in addition to being able to see the film before its premiere, our colleague Ricardo Rosado has had the pleasure of interviewing the Wasp, Evangeline Lilly and, although I have not asked him about his commented haircut, he has done so about many other things .
For those who still don’t know, because by chance they have stayed away from promotional images, previews or trailers, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania’, takes its protagonists to the quantum world where the character of Michelle Pfeifer, the mother of the Wasp, spent 30 years. That is the great excuse that allows this third solo installment of Ant-Man to be very different from the previous two. If the first two installments of Paul Rudd’s character were family comedies set in a fairly ordinary world, in his third installment he leaps into surreal worlds that we might have expected from Doctor Strange and, above all, from Guardians of the Galaxy.
All thanks to a really crazy Quantum World full of factions and all kinds of inhabitants. Of course, there are those who are identical to humans, although some are from very advanced civilizations and others from primitive tribes. But there is also room for nonsense in scenes reminiscent, for example, of the Star Wars Cantina or the humor already used by Marvel in Guardians of the Galaxy.
There are very crazy ideas on the tape, and this world would give, at least, for a Disney + series (if it is with the character of Bill Murray, very wasted on the tape, all the better). That is precisely what Evangeline Lilly told us about, crazy ideas:
The craziest idea is MODOK, by far. I cracked up the first time I read about broccoli man and broccoli people. And of course, Michael Douglas interprets every one of his lines so well… he’s terrific at punchlines. I fell in love with the script the first time I read it because, in a Marvel movie, the script is not fully developed, it is completed during filming and I had to work with what is there, but this one was very solid from the beginning. I thought if we didn’t touch anything the movie would already be great, it didn’t need any changes. Of course, we continued to change it every day for six months while we were shooting the movie.
Although MODOK is certainly a highlights of the tape, we also stay with that broccoli man who (mini spoiler) tries to flirt with the good Wasp. If things go wrong with Scott Lang, let’s hope he gives it a chance, we already know how good broccoli is for the body.
