Tired of Shopee notifications and emails? One option, albeit a drastic one, is to delete your account on the platform. The process is irreversible, it cancels all available coupons and points, but it also removes any form of communication from the company or from the seller’s profiles.
Account cancellation can only be done through the Shopee App (android | iOS). To confirm the process, you need to enter a code received by SMS or Whatsappenter your email address and accept the terms.
However, there are cases where Shopee does not accept your account removal request due to pending orders or too many registration attempts. Learn more below.
How to delete Shopee account from app
- Access the “Me” tab;
- Tap the gear icon to open settings;
- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and select “Request Account Deletion”;
- Accept the terms;
- Choose whether to receive a numerical verification code via SMS or WhatsApp. Enter this code to proceed;
- Enter your email address and accept the terms;
- Ready! Shopee will begin the account cancellation process. You will lose all saved coupons, points and other data.
When can’t I delete Shopee account?
The platform rejects the cancellation request in the following scenarios:
- There is still a purchase in progress. Wait for the order to complete before deleting it;
- The account has been restricted by the app for violating the terms of service;
- The mobile number has already been used to create other profiles. Registrations made with the same mobile phone number can only be canceled twice. If you are already on the third occasion, you will not be able to delete the account.
Shopee still retains transactional data for orders placed from a deleted profile. According to the company, this measure is done for the financial audit.
