Episode 3 of The Resident Season 5, which aired last Wednesday on TF1, proved to be a turning point for the medical series, as in less than 45 minutes, Conrad’s (Matt Chuchry) life changed forever. This major episode was indeed marked by the death of nurse Nicolette “Nick” Nevin, played by Emily VanCamp.

In August 2021, he actually announced that he wants to leave the resident Nicki skin after 4 seasons. The actress decided to move to the set to take care of her son who was born a few months earlier.

So the screenwriters had no choice but to kill off this central character in order to offer Conrad the opportunity to move on to something else. But if fans think they’ll have to come to terms with the idea of ​​never seeing Emily VanCamp again on the medical series, the writers are in for a nice surprise.

The actor will definitely return to Resident Evil in the final episode of Season 5 for a couple of twists and turns, serving as the scriptwriter for Conrad to finally succeed in turning the page on his relationship with Nick and getting it started. New story with another woman.

So the writers were looking for the best way to get Conrad back into a relationship with someone else. That’s when they came up with the idea to do flashbacks with Nick’s character.

“We thought about the reasons that might prevent someone from moving forward. We had to find a way to release him and close this chapter. Emily was going to come back, we built the story around that idea.” Back for an episode that will delight fans of The Resident.
