The protagonist of ‘Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’, Evan Peters, was chosen to embody a role in the brilliant ‘The White Lotus’.
Nobody would be able to outshine Tanya screaming on a yacht, but the truth is that one of the actors of the moment could have tried since Evan Peters was cast in a starring role in the second season of ‘The White Lotus’.
“That role was the last one we cast in the season, and It was originally supposed to be Evan Peters, but for some reason – scheduling or timing – it didn’t work out.“explains executive producer David Bernad to Deadline. “We were trying to figure out how to cast this role so the cast wouldn’t be overly familiar.”
The actor, in fashion for ‘Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’, the success available in the Netflix series catalogue, was going to play the role of Ethan in the second season of what is already one of the best series on HBO Max in Spain. Scheduling conflicts allowed Will Sharpe to assume the role of Aubrey Plaza’s partner.
“I was jet lagged, I was googling at 4 in the morning, and I came across Will Sharpe on ‘Giri/Haji: Duty/Dishonor’, which is a brilliant series in the UK,” Bernard notes. “I had never seen him and he was incredibly talented. I looked at his other works and realized that he was some kind of chameleon.“.
Sharpe made his debut as co-director, co-writer and co-star with ‘Black Pond’ (Will Sharpe, Tom Kingsley, 2011), nominated for Best British Debut at the BAFTAs. The combo repeated their duties in ‘The Darkest Universe’ (Tom Kingsley, Will Sharpe, 2016) and, that same year, Flowers wrote and directed the series ‘Flowers’.
After current in the British series ‘Defending the Guilty’ (2018) and the aforementioned ‘Giri / Haji: Duty / Dishonor’ (2019), in 2021 he released his first solo feature film, ‘Mr. Wain’ (Will Sharpe), a title that featured Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy as protagonists. All this happened while she was preparing her first contact with HBO Max, the miniseries ‘How to get into a garden’, created together with Ed Sinclair.
It was then that he received the call to participate in the second season of ‘The White Lotus’, in which he plays Ethan, the husband of Harper (Plaza), a successful young man who travels on vacation to Italy with his partner, his friend and former college roommate Cameron (Theo James) and his wife, Daphne (Meghann Fahy).
And up to here we can read, since part of the grace of the series is arriving with the innocence of Jennifer Coolidge to its plots and allowing herself to be cajoled by Lucia and Mia (Simona Tabasco and Beatrice Grannò), forgetting about the obligations that bind Valentina ( Sabrina Impacciatore) and enjoy the authentic Italian dream, stuff yourself with pasta and speed along the coast on a Vespa like the true Mediterranean diva: Peppa Pig.
