This total lack of César nominations for 2023 made us think about what a very good year for cinema this year has been offered by French female directors. A major absence that often reflects the sheer variety of films on offer in 2022. There was a lot of creativity, risk-taking, and sometimes even some radicalism.
From the nominations, we picked 6 forgotten films that we wanted to name, and our greed for cinema will no doubt lead to other recommendations.
