Tomorrow belongs to us: Tristan is a real serial killer? According to Mathieu Alexander, “he will be caught in the show.”

AlloCiné: You are one of the actors who has been on the adventure since the beginning of Tomorrow. Do you still enjoy playing Tristan so much?

Matthew Alexander : Yes, I still enjoy Tristan’s game. He is a character that I like very much. He’s always a little off, a little bit, so there’s something very fun about playing on him. He is part of me now, five years later.

And he has developed quite a bit, I’m happy. He went through many different things. At first it was someone who was there to control the spoon, it was mostly for the sake of jokes and jokes. And it was wonderful, I liked it very much. It really defined the character in his dreamer, somewhat burlesque side.

And slowly, as he experienced more intimate, more traumatic, deeper, and more moving things, we began to discover another aspect of Tristan. He’s not just an air-permeable guy pouring his tray on the floor, slightly away from his urges. He also has a life. In five years we have been able to discover something else about him and I am always excited to learn more about Tristan.

After a few months of absence, you returned to the series in January. Were you asked to stay away for a while if it was a purely creative decision made by a producer and writer?

This is the decision we made with the production. I do a lot of theater with the series, this is an activity that I enjoy too. And I need these two activities, I get the impression that these two feed each other a lot.

But theater is also very time consuming because tomorrow belongs to us. And at some point you will have to make a choice, especially since a series like Tomorrow belongs to us, it is difficult to manage the schedule of people who are on stage in Paris, yes, who are on tour all over France.

So by mutual agreement we thought it was a good time to take a little theatrical break and bring Tristan out. Because it was quite logical that he left after some time after the hostages were taken. It was good and it allowed him to come back differently after that.

In 2020, the authors imagined the Tristan family with the arrival of Sacha, Solen, and Ben. Were you upset that you had to say goodbye to Reno Russell, Artemisia Toussaint and Antoine Cohaut last year?

It is always surprising that you have to say goodbye to your employees. Especially when you appreciate them (laughs). But tomorrow we own is a bit of an ephemeral place, we should not forget that. This is a TV series and everything has to move in the TV series. Nothing is guaranteed, writers have complete freedom to develop the characters the way they want.

So yes, it hurts because I really appreciate them. And at the same time I tell myself that we were able to find them very quickly. Nothing is crucial to the fact that Tomorrow belongs to us. This is also a surprise when playing in this type of series: we always want to find out who will return the products.

The arch around Sasha and Clementine was large. Were you surprised by the fate booked for Sasha, if you knew from the arrival of Reno Russell that the conspiracy was going to do just that?

Not at all. I was very surprised that the authors left it at that. But I thought it was very cool. This allowed him to show another aspect of the life of Tristan and his brother. And also exploring the dark side of my character, because of everything that happened to Sacha.

After parting ways with Justin, we thought Tristan was still going to find love with Gael. Finally, he was killed by a tiger rose killer. Do you hope that bad luck in Tristan love will finally come back?

Yes, I want to (laughs). It would not be bad. I do not know what the writers suggest about me (laughs). They tell themselves that Tristan will never be able to be clearly happy in love. He has to stop at some point because the unfortunate Tristan is really unlucky. So why not, yes, I hope he finds love with a nice person.

But it is also very fun to break up the game. And it’s hard to tell stories for those who work well and have everything smiling. But it is true that the authors were a little ruthless towards Tristan. I do not want his life (laughs).

During his interrogation at the police station, Tristan lies and claims that there was nothing romantic between Gael and him, which raises suspicions in Bart. Could Tristan be Gael’s killer? Will he appear on the list of suspects?

I can say that Tristan is not very smart. Chloe will soon set up an ambush in the trap of a serial killer with the help of police. And the one who chases him through the streets of Seth is a good old Tristan! I can not say more at this time.

But obviously it works pretty weird. After that, sometimes when you are faced with a job done, it is difficult to escape from it. But Tristan has always had somewhat surprising reactions. And here, of course, we wonder why he told the police that he had no relationship with Gael. It ‘s still a bit of a secret …

Are we going to witness the true arrival of Tristan in hell during this ark?

Yes, it will be difficult for Tristan. He will be caught in some kind of mechanism.

We get the impression that this is an arch that still prepares us for many surprises. Do you confirm?

Yeah, it’s a really cool arch. And pretty amazing, it really is.

After Gael’s death, we witness a sudden rapprochement with Vanessa, with whom Luke is instantly buried. Can a friendship be established between them?

Admittedly, the relationship between these two enemies is quite pleasing. It starts a bit like in romantic actors: they hate each other to finally appreciate each other better. Sure something could have happened between them. Will it be or not? This is to be considered. But it is possible that Tristan and Vanessa will work together and enjoy each other. Even if they remain first and foremost a duo that creates sparks.

True, we love all the fight scenes between Vanessa and Tristan with a spoon. There is wonderful chemistry between Victor Dosser and you. Was it fun to shoot these sections?

Ე is awesome. Especially since Victor is an excellent partner, very talented. He is a very good actor and a very beautiful person. So it is always a pleasure to work with him. And we really enjoyed playing these childish screaming matches and these fights. I have wonderful memories with him.

Are there actors you would most like to work with?

There are lots of actors with whom I want to share scenes. Today this TV series means that there are a lot of new faces that I have not been able to shoot with yet because families do not necessarily intersect. And it is always nice to shoot with new actors.

But I also love touring with Alexander Braser and Arno Henriette. Every time I find myself on the set with them, I am very happy, so I want to have more scenes with them. There is little evidence in all three of our games, so I hope the Alex-Sylvain-Tristan trio continues. This is a pretty annoying and pretty funny friendship.

But, to be honest, we are a great team. I also love shooting with Miley Cyrus, Julie Debazak, Rafael Wolcoff, or Camille Genau, who are friends. It is always nice to watch them again and I want to share more scenes with them there again.

Do you have any other upcoming projects you can tell us about?

Yes, I play a lot in the theater right now. I go to a play called Titanic, which will be played from June to August at the Renaissance Theater in Paris. Then in September I will be in a play called L’invention de nos vies, directed by Carine Tuiley and directed by Johanna Boyer, at the Theater Rive Gauche in Montparnasse.

I have quite a busy theatrical activity, finding a few boards is a pleasure. But that does not mean I will go, tomorrow belongs to us. This is a series that is close to my heart and in which I have many friends. This is a kind of founding cocoon in my life as an actor.
