Amazon Prime Video has released the poster and full trailer for “The Power,” a new “superheroes” series starring Toni Collette (“Hereditary”) and John Leguizamo (“The Menu”).
Based on the award-winning novel by British author Naomi Alderman, the attraction follows a worldwide phenomenon, the awakening of electric powers in teenage girls. The plot follows these four girls, scattered in different places, as they begin to explore this new ability to manipulate electricity, each with a different goal. As Allie transforms into a religious leader, Roxy brutally exploits her abilities, Tunde studies seismic global change, and Margot appears to be just a loving housewife.
The cast includes Auli’i Cravalho (the voice of Disney’s Moana), Nico Hiraga (“Moxie: When Girls Go to Fight”), Josh Charles (“The City Is Ours”), Alice Eve (“Bombshell”), Ria Zmitrowicz (“Miss Revolution”), Toheeb Jimoh (“The French Chronicle”), Rob Delaney (“The School for Good and Evil”), Edwina Findley (“Life According to Ella”) and others.
The series was developed by Raelle Tucker (producer and writer of “True Blood”, “Supernatural” and “Jessica Jones”) and is directed by Reed Morano (Emmy winner for “The Handmaid’s Tale”). The premiere is scheduled for March 31st.
