The company bets on durability and ease of repair; to replace the screen or battery of the smartphone, the consumer only needs a 00 key and a pick
A Global HMDtrademark owner Nokia, has bet on the durability of its smartphones to stand out on the market. Its new Nokia G22 makes repairability a top priority so consumers can keep their devices for longer. The company claims you can replace the battery in under five minutes and the screen in under 20.
To service these components, all you need is that one key to remove the backing chip tray, a 00 key, and a guitar pick. Nokia claims that the repair takes half as many steps as other devices.
For those who don’t want to improvise, iFixit — famous for dismantling and testing devices — will sell the repair kit.
Data presented by Nokia shows that broken devices are a headache for users.
A Kantar survey shows that a broken smartphone is the top reason given when buying a new mobile phone, with around 23% of consumers.
Among those looking for a cell phone that costs less than $ 200, this is even more relevant: about 28% of consumers change their phone because the old device broke.
So it makes sense to try to sell a mobile phone on the basis of the “if it breaks, fix it yourself” argument.

Otherwise, the Nokia G22 is a very basic device. It doesn’t have 5G and is still running Android 12 — the company promises to update it to Android 14, as well as offering three years of security updates.
The processor is a Unisoc T606, released in 2021, which reaches only 1.6 GHz clock. It also powers entry-level phones from competitors like the Motorola Moto E32 and Samsung Galaxy A03.
Other outstanding specifications of the Nokia G22 are up to 6GB RAM, 6.52-inch screen with HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate, and triple camera with 50-megapixel main sensor.
Nokia C22 and C32 are basic and should arrive in Brazil
The G22 wasn’t the only phone announced by Nokia. The company presented Nokia C22 and C32, two very simple mobile phones.

The Nokia C22 has up to 3GB of RAM. Thus, it runs Android 13 in the Go edition, aimed at devices without much hardware horsepower. It also has 64GB of storage, dual cameras with a 13MP main sensor.
The Nokia C32 is quite similar, but comes with up to 4GB of RAM, allowing it to run full Android 13. The camera is also more advanced: the main sensor is 50 megapixels.

Both phones have the Unisoc 9863A1 chip. It’s also quite dated: it was released in 2019 and uses the 28nm process, even reaching 1.6GHz.
According to HMD Global, the C-line models are expected to launch in Latin America, but nothing from the G-line yet. There is no information on price and availability yet.
