Tom Cruise has confessed that he goes undercover to see his movies at the theater, including the Best Picture Oscar nominee ‘Top Gun: Maverick’.
In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Cruise claimed that when he goes to the movies or uses public transportation, he covers himself with a baseball cap so as not to be recognized. (And it doesn’t always work, really.)
“Sometimes they catch me. When I sit next to her, they look at me a bit. I take a couple of photos and sign an autograph,“Cruise commented.
Cruise recalled a story with a girl on the London Underground, who recognized him when no one else had noticed.. The young woman secretly took a photograph and he, joking, made a gesture for her to “keep the secret” and thus not be recognized by the rest of the train car.
Cruise commented that he loves to watch movies in the theater with the rest of the public. Especially ‘Top Gun: Maverick’.
“The movie is made for the big screen. We did it like this. My friends, the team and I,“Cruise shared.
“When I was growing up, I wanted to travel around the world. So, I started making movies and I was able to go see them in other countries. I always go to see them with the public from other places. I’m also going to see their own movies with them.”
“So yes. When I make a film, I go to see it in the audience. I do everything I can. I use whatever means I can to entertain the audience.”
Although ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ has been a real delight for fans, we may have to wait a bit for a third release in the saga, as shared by its producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
“We are enjoying this. I have no idea. It took us 35 years to make ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ so…I don’t think I’ll be around another 35 years from now.”
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ is available on streaming on Prime Video.
