Reznikov urged the allies to continue supporting Kiev in the war
The Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov warned on Monday (27) of the risk of a “fatigue syndrome” in European countries due to the Russian invasion.
In an interview with ANSA in Kiev, Reznikov said this could “curb support from allies” in the war against Moscow, which ended a year on February 24.
“I think one of the biggest threats after the Russians is ‘fatigue syndrome’ in European countries,” the minister said after showing a documentary by French philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy on the conflict.
“Don’t let the tiredness syndrome hit you”, Reznikov urged, adding that Ukraine is fighting in the name of “European values”. “We fought for our lives and freedoms and I’m sure we will win,” he said.
The Ukrainian also expressed “appreciation for the Italian people, for the government of Italy and for the defense ministers” Lorenzo Guerini, who held the position until last October, and Guido Crosetto, current head of the portfolio in Rome. “They’re two of my friends,” he said.
According to Reznikov, he recently met with Crosetto to discuss new military aid packages from Italy to Ukraine. “I’m sure that when we celebrate our victory in this war, we will celebrate with our Italian friends,” he stressed.
According to the minister, Russia is currently losing “between 400 and 500” fighters a day in the conflict, while Ukraine is trying to “reduce the risk” and wait for the ideal moment to “start a counter-offensive”. .
