Twitter has laid off at least 200 employees, or about 10 percent of its workforce, The New York Times reported Sunday, in the latest round of job cuts at the social media platform since Elon Musk took over the company last October.
Saturday night’s layoffs included product managers, data scientists and engineers who worked on machine learning and site reliability, which help keep Twitter’s many features online, the NYT report said, citing sources familiar with the matter. .
Twitter did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
The company has about 2,300 active employees, according to Musk last month.
The latest job cuts follow a massive layoff in early November when Twitter laid off about 3,700 employees in a cost-cutting move by Musk, who acquired the company for 44 billion euros.
Musk said in November that the service was seeing a “huge drop in revenue” as advertisers cut back on concerns over content moderation.
Twitter recently started sharing ad revenue with some of its content creators.
On Monday, The Information reported that the social media platform laid off dozens of employees on Saturday, aiming to offset a drop in revenue.
