It’s time for the captain to say: “enough mimimi”
“Don’t lose faith, believe in yourself, chosen by the Lord”, sings the guitarist, next to Jair Bolsonaro, sitting at the table, in a Flamengo shirt. The show belongs to the singer, but the camera is focused on the former president, who, once again, is moved to tears. The scene was filmed to go to the ex-captain’s nets.
Once again, Bolsonaro is keen to express his tears, his regret. Accused of being inhumane throughout his term, the former president has already shed a torrent of tears since he lost the election in October last year.
The problem is that none of Bolsonaro’s tears filmed on zoom to date have been for anyone other than him. If he wanted to seem too human, it would be good for the former president to cry for someone, for the 600,000 people who died in the pandemic under his government, for the decimated Indians in Roraima; however, there are many reasons to cry.
More than one and a half million fans enjoyed Bolsonaro’s crying video, that’s a fact. People are moved when their hero cries. Even in films with a narrower script there is always this impact.
But it is not with tears of self-pity and resentment that Bolsonaro will be able to lead the opposition.
In politics, the strategy of victimization has never worked. It’s just that, for Bolsonarismo, social achievements and human rights are not seen as the fruits of the struggle, but as the resonance of the “mimimi”. Therein lies the misunderstanding, which resonates in the former president’s crying videos.
Four months have passed since the defeat. It’s time to face the consequences. Carla Zambelli’s criticism, who would say, is very pertinent. The commander is not allowed to leave the post.
In Congress, the opposition has already shown that it will act much more with its head than with its guts. In São Paulo, Governor Tarcísio de Freitas made it clear that he will not be a Bolsonaro 2.0 and his statements are far from being an opposition to Lula. In the Legislative Assembly, the PL makes an agreement with the PT to lead the House. And the president of the party, Valdemar da Costa Neto, has already agreed to go hand in hand with Michelle Bolsonaro to launch it nationally.
There is no power vacuum.
