Petrobras’ profit is expected to increase as asset prices and sales rise, Ineep estimates

Petrobras’ net profit in the fourth quarter of 2022 was estimated at 51.3 billion reais, up 62% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to an assessment by the Institute for Strategic Petroleum Studies, of the natural gas and biofuels (INEEP) released this Monday.

The company, which is due to release its financial results next Wednesday, was buoyed by rising international oil prices and rising domestic selling prices of petroleum products, said Ineep, a research body linked to the Unica Federation of the Petroleum Workers (FUP).

Results for the fourth quarter of 2022 are also expected to be positively impacted by non-recurring launches, Ineep said, noting that the company announced the receipt of about 14.6 billion reais from four sales and a transfer of production rights – from 5% of its stake in the production sharing contract for the excess volume of the sale of the rights to the Búzios field, in the Santos Basin (10.3 billion reais).

Net quarterly revenues were estimated at BRL 158.8 billion (+18%) and EBITDA at BRL 97.6 billion (+31%).

With this generation of resources, Petrobras has estimated a Free Cash Flow (difference between free cash generation and expenditure on fixed and intangible investments) of approximately 64.3 billion reais in the fourth quarter, up 53% on the same period last year, the institute said.

Ineep then stated that he estimates the distribution of dividends between 20 and 35 billion reais, if the same policy as in previous quarters is maintained.
